Dottie needs a VILLAGE to help her

Hello, my name is Christine Toomey and I'm an animal lover, advocate and independent rescuer in Houston, Texas. Dottie was saved by a group of animal advocates from the Corridor of Cruelty in Houston, Texas. We thought we had everything arranged for Dottie~ an amazing trapper to get her out of the Corridor, temporary boarding and a dedicated rescue to take her in. But we were wrong.

Dottie started to struggle in boarding. She has anxiety and trust related behavioral issues, and who could blame her after the unimaginable suffering she’s endured. The rescue who initially offered to take Dottie backed out, and although loved by many in boarding, it wasn’t the environment Dottie needed to decompress and heal.

We’ve received an offer to board Dottie at Sea Dog, an excellent training facility where experienced staff will help her overcome her anxiety and trust related behavioral issues. After decompressing for a 10 day period, Dottie will begin Sea Dog’s program. Decompression boarding fees for 10 days will be $200, and Sea Dog’s program will be an additional $1400.

We have faced many challenges and setbacks in trying to help Dottie, but we as a group of individual rescuers have come together and remain unwavering in our commitment to give her the love, care and home she’s always deserved but never known.

It’s not her fault she was born into a life of abuse, neglect, hunger and homelessness. It’s not her fault she’s struggling to overcome the trauma she’s experienced.
