Dorthe Thure Memorial Fund

On December 4, the communities of Key West, FL, and Copenhagen, Denmark — as well as a host of friends and family around the world — lost a beautiful ray of light in Dorthe Thure. She was, above all, a loving, caring and nurturing mother to her two children, Kristian, 12 and Naia, 8. Dorthe had an unmatched grace in her presence that will be missed by all of those who had the great fortune of knowing her. She loved spending time with her kids near the ocean in Key West where she had made a home since 2012. Each summer she would bring the kids to Denmark, where they were both born, to visit family and show them the place where she was raised, educated, and lived for much of her life. The sudden and tragic nature of Dorthe’s passing has left her family, including her children and their father Billy Kearins, with unexpected and mounting immediate expenses. In an effort to come together in support, this page has been set up by friends to raise funds to assist with both their current needs, as well as to establish a secure, long term fund specifically allocated to the children’s future educational requirements. All funds collected will be deposited into a single account managed by a small group of close friends and family including Kasie Sullivan who is the named beneficiary of this fundraiser.  Kasie is Naia and Kristian's aunt (Billy's sister).  Should you wish to designate your donation to either the immediate needs or the educational fund, simply make a note of your intentions. After immediate needs are met, any additional funds, as well as those specifically designated for education, will be transferred to a secure 529 investment account. Dorthe’s family would like to thank, in advance, everyone for the outpouring of support in helping the children secure a strong foundation as they move forward with loving thoughts and memories of their mom.
