Dorothy's Care: Overcoming Stroke Challenges

My name is Angela Balls-Aldridge. My mother's name is Dorothy Balls. I discovered her unresponsive in her home on February 28, 2025. She was experiencing atrial fibrillation and had suffered a significant stroke, resulting in complete paralysis on her right side, loss of speech, loss of ability to eat, and an inability to control bodily functions. Prior to this stroke, my mother was fully independent.

Over the past 35 days, she has undergone multiple shocks to restore her heart rhythm and received a pacemaker on March 6. She is currently at PAM Rehab in New Braunfels, Texas, and is expected to be discharged soon. I would like to find a suitable long-term care facility for her if I am unable to bring her home. My intention is to care for her at home, but I would require a hospital bed, a Hoyer lift, and other necessary equipment. Although she has Humana/Wellmed insurance, it does not cover most of her needs. I have also applied for Medicaid, but the application has yet to be reviewed. I am actively seeking financial assistance to support her recovery journey.
