Dorothy Jacqueline Kitaka-Gawera

The family of the Late Hon Kitaka-Gakwera and the Late Susan Wilson Kitaka-Gawera with deep sorrow announce the passing of their beloved sister Dorothy Jacqueline Kitaka-Gawera, who tragically left us on January 1st 2024 in Los Angeles, California due to Cardiac Arrest.

Dorothy was a dedicated mother, a friend to many and a larger than life personality who brought a smile to everyone’s face.

Dorothy was born in Kampala and attended Nakasero, Buckley Primary School and Nabbingo Secondary School. At the age of 19 she moved to London, where she briefly attended Merton College for 2 years, and then to Pasadena California, where she attended Pasadena City College and graduated with a Diploma in Economics and Business Administration. She went on to live in Pasadena, California for 18 years before moving to Austin, Texas, where she has been living for the last 15 years.

Dorothy is survived by her 25 year old son: Anthony Fabiano, who lives in Los-Angeles, CA, 5 siblings: Heron Shaw (England), Steven and Isaac (Uganda), Richard (Austin, Texas) and Ivan (Houston, Texas), and lots of extended family and friends whom she loved dearly and who loved her dearly.

Dorothy’s passion included Christian outreach and caring for the well-being of others. She had an infinite love for the Bible and scriptures. We will always remember her infectious smile and her huge personality. She has left a stream of tears, bottomless grief and sorrow. She will be missed dearly.
