Hello everyone,

Last week my grandmother passed away due to complications related to dementia. My grandmother meant a lot to me because she helped raise me and served as a continual source of inspiration for what it means to be a strong woman active in helping her community. Even though our family has been aware of her declining health for the past few years, it feels strange to know that she is no longer with us on Earth.

Unfortunately, after my grandmother’s extended time in a nursing facility, there are no funds or property so the financial burden of paying for her cremation is falling on my mother and I. As some of you know, my mom is disabled and I also struggle with many health issues–so often any little money we have has to go towards medical treatments, doctor visits, or medications. I am currently a graduate student which makes finances quite tight as well.

However, I do feel grateful knowing that the three of us have many great friends, and was wondering if some of you could help during this time of need. Any amount of money helps and no donation is insignificant. If my grandmother touched your heart in any way and you are able to donate any amount, it would mean the world to my mother and I.
