Dorothy Elaine Wright Medical Expenses

This is my mother Dorothy Elaine Wright better known as Elaine. On Sunday, August 23, 2020 around 8:30 p.m. my mother went paralyzed on her right side from what we thought was a stroke, luckily my sister Donna called 911 and they took my mother to Civista hospital in LaPlata, MD where they determined the stroke was caused by an large aneurism on the left side of her brain. They called the helicopter which then flew her to Washington Hospital in Washington DC where she still is today. Early Monday morning she underwent a craniotomy to reduce the swelling to her brain and remove much of the blood caused by the aneurism. She is in an induced coma at this time so her body can rest and at this point she is critical but stable, incubated and we do not know what neurological damage was caused. I am creating this gofundme to help offset medical expenses. My mother is retired and is on a fixed income and she has always been a stickler of paying her bills and we don’t want her to worry about how these bills will be paid for when she recovers. As you know helicopter expenses run between 500 to a thousand or more then we have the expenses of ICU expenses and hopefully rehab expenses to help her regain her motor skills if she survives. I hate to say if she survives we pray she does and we pray she has minimum restrictions and will be her self however it could go either way as far as being a short or long road to recovery.

Elaine is a vivacious, strong willed, spiritual woman. She had 4 daughters, Sharon, Donna, Laurie, and me Janet. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is 75 and going to be 76 years old in November. She is the first one in our family to make it past the age of 66 years old so we are blessed in that area. She has buried her father, mother, baby sister and brother as well as her oldest daughter Sharon, and oldest grandson Wayne, and her husband. My mother is strong in her faith in our lord and has brought many to know the lord and has touched many lives. We hate to have to ask for help as my mother is a proud woman however reality is funds are tight and with Covid incomes are tight for all. Due to Covid we are not allowed to see our mother and can only teleconference and pray she can hear us.
