Hi, my name is Tracy and I am one of Doris's nieces. I am helping my family set up this page and humbly ask for your help for my Aunt Doris.
In October 2022, Doris became ill and struggled to recover from the flu and upper respiratory issues. In early January 2023, Doris was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. Needless to say, Doris, her partner Bob, daughter Shauna and the rest of our family were devastated by the news.
Doris prepared to start treatment including chemo and radiation. Unfortunately, surgery was not an option at this point due to the size of the tumor in the lobe of her lung. We are praying the size of the growth shrinks, at which time, surgery may be an option. In the meantime, with Bob, Shauna, her sisters, and her brother by her side, Doris is fighting to beat this cancer. Although some days are tougher than others, Doris has kept a positive attitude and finds ways to laugh. (Although if you know my family, you know it is usually a comedy of errors - it is in our genes).
Doris has been out of work since the fall. Doris is self-employed and doesn't get paid when she doesn't work. Through all of this, her partner Bob, who is also self-employed has had to take significant time off of work which limits his income. Friends and family have been helping when they can but the financial needs are becoming more and more difficult.
My Aunt Doris is a beautiful, high-spirited, and courageous soul. She is one of the strongest people I know. She is genuine, and real, and will tell you like it is. Underneath that, she is deeply kind, caring, and thoughtful. She is one of a kind!
Doris has 3 beautiful grandchildren that she adores and they love spending time with their Nana. They are truly a bright light in her life.
The funds raised will go directly to Doris to finish paying for a small business loan and other obligations she has to keep her business on pause but open. Without income, she also needs help with living expenses. Rent, utilities, insurance, groceries not to mention medical bills, medications, and co-pays.
My family and I thank you in advance for any contribution you can make to help Doris through this fight. With your thoughts, prayers, and support, we are optimistic that we will be enjoying her spunky attitude and sharing more laughs with Doris in years to come!
