My name is Doris and my story is complicated. It all started when my son unexpectedly passed away at the age of 39. This traumatic event affected almost every aspect of my life. Everything from my job to my relationship with my family to my housing has been negatively impacted because of my son’s passing. If you’ve ever endured the pain of losing a child then you can relate. I would also add that I hope that no one would have to go through a tragedy such as this. I am currently living out of a hotel with help from my church, but this is not a permanent solution. I am looking to get back on my feet so that I can become self-sufficient once again in my life. I am on a limited income due to medical issues which have impacted where I can live due to the ever-increasing cost of living. I would like to be able to rent an apartment that I could afford. Prior to this event, I worked as a teacher and would like to be able to go back to work in some capacity. My overall goal is to collect enough funds to avoid becoming homeless.
