Dear Friends & Family,
I am reaching out on behalf of my parents, Doris & Jay Clarkson. Many of you know them from Loon Lake and the Waterford community. Always involved and giving back to those around them.
Well now is the time that we need to ask for some of the giving in return as life has taken quite a twist.
Jay has been diagnosed and been fighting Large Cell Squamous Carcinoma for 18 months on his face, first surgery lasted 1 year, next was 4 months, and now its inoperable. So as many of you know, he is a Heart Transplant recipient (9 years ago) May 2012. Those immunosuppressant drugs have allowed thiscancer to go deep and go far. His Immunotherapy at U of M isevery 3 weeks, and still a very new thing for transplant patients, many have inflammation of the heart. Meaning more tests and closer observation for our transplant patient. He is a trooper, never complains, but Mom knows when he is in pain, needs anap, or needs to eat more, or even just get out of the house tocheer him up. Yes, she is a helicopter wife, with good reason, and he is the better for it, he says so many times.
Most of you know that mom is still working, however, the 2020 pandemic pretty much wiped out my mom’s business. She does healthcare benefits and so many plans/businesses folded or laid off affected her drastically.
This year (2021) was supposed to be the recovery year for everyone, not so in our family. January, Jay has another surgery for the cancer, February, Mom had a knee replacement, March, my Moms sister was killed in an auto accident in Alabama, April, Jay was in U of M for High Blood Pressure problems that couldn’t be solved at home for 2 weeks, May, he came home and had contracted COVID in the hospital – got him antibodies to help him get over it, June, Jay was to have another surgery on the cancer, they had to get out – it was inoperable – refer to Oncology, July, he startedimmunotherapy, he cannot do Chemo-Radiation due to transplant status, surgery would have made him lose half hisface so surgeon referred to oncology.
With all this being said, I'm just trying to reach out this way since so many have offered to help but just didn't know how. Financially, physically, emotionally...it's all needed and welcomed and appreciated.
In addition to any financial help anyone can spare at this time,I'd like to ask for anyone willing to do some meals , to call me to coordinate.
Thank you all so much for asking about my parents, our family, our well-being. We truly appreciate it and feel your love.
Any gifts or cards can be sent directly: 3030 Dixie highway, Waterford 48328
Sarah
