Hello we are the Stanley family, and we are reaching out for help to fund our beautiful family dog Doris’ medical expenses after years of fighting with many medical issues and now unfortunately Osteosarcoma Bone Cancer…
*UPDATE*
We have had the best news and outcome for Doris it's NOT Cancer it's osteomyelitis, a serious bone infection, still a long pathway of recovery ahead!
Our family have been put through upset and heartbreak due to this wrongful diagnosis. We have expressed how disappointed we are receiving the wrong diagnosis (from the vet that booked Doris in for the amputation) as she was 99% sure it was cancer, being advised “if it was her dog she would go forward for the amputation”. If it wasn't for Our vet ‘the Surgeon’ returning from holiday that week and being the one operating on Doris, she would have lost her leg for no reason !
These biopsies and test have still been incredibly expensive, therefore we would still be very grateful for your donation to help fund these test and further treatment… *however we understand this is not specifically the reason you have donated for Doris, we will be able to insure anyone a refund that’s would like one. Please message maddie Stanley or Lesha Stanley if you would like your donation returned ❤️ Thank you all for your overwhelming support and kindness, it means so much to us Stanley Family ❤️
Doris Story
On 24th June 2019 our Beautiful Doris came home, and she soon encountered a nickname of Doris the Destroyer! She is the most loving, kind, funny dog who loves cuddles, digging in the sand, sunbathing and talking to us when she wants her dinner!
Our beautiful Doris has had such bad luck in health, she has suffered relentlessly with Allergies and infection’s throughout her life. Food, environment, you name it and you can bet Doris is allergic to it.
Whitstable bay vets quickly became Doris’s second home. Numerous tests, tablets, injections, medicated shampoos, creams, drops, elimination diets, some helped but none were affective for long. Desperate to improve her quality of life we tried her on steroids. The change in her was amazing for almost a whole year until she developed Calcinosis Cutis as a complication of the steroid use. This displayed as big open sores all over her body. Weaned off the steroids and back to fighting her allergies in whatever way we could, another spanner was thrown into the works. Dorris became lame on her back legs in April of this year. X-rays showed arthritis in both her hind legs, back and tail, all be it deemed manageable.
That brings us mid June when Doris became lame on her front leg, more X-rays taken. This time they revealed Osteosarcoma Bone Cancer. We were told the only way to save our beautiful girl was for her to under go amputation of the leg as soon as possible. This is booked in for Tuesday 22nd July.
The thing I haven’t mentioned yet is that our pet insurance provider (ANIMAL FRIENDS) wasted no time changing her “lifetime cover” policy to no longer cover skin/allergies. Any attempt at a claim after that point was deemed as being related to her allergies and so as not covered under the insurance. We looked at other insurer’s however they were all simply unaffordable. That means that throughout Dorris’s life we have had to find the funds to pay for her treatment as the insurer would not which had taken its toll on us.
We hate to ask for help but unfortunately due to the circumstances are having to.
Any donations will be honestly appreciated with all of our hearts, and would never be able to thank you enough x
