I am raising funds for my Aunt, who was unfortunately a victim of the Butte County Campfire in Paradise California. My Aunt Dorinda was a resident of Paradise for 27 years, where she worked as a Nurse running charge of DCU at Feather River Hospital, and then moved to Home Health, specializing in taking care of elderly patients and Hospice work. She is the hardest working person I know, raising two boys as a single mother all on her own, working sometimes three jobs just to mae sure she could provide for them and give them the kind of life she felt they deserved. Her two boys have grown into amazing, kind hearted and loving young men who currently reside in Texas and are now serving their country in the U.S. Army, and will be deployed to Germany for another 3 years in a few months.
My aunt has spent her life serving the community of Paradise working sometimes over 70 hours a week taking care of other people and putting herself and her needs behind those of her patients and her children. She is an animal advocate, and was the first person to open her home to any animal in need of a caring home, where she would foster and/or nurse them back to health before finding them a loving home and even keeping several of them she could not find homes for.
After working so hard for many years, 6 years ago she finally purchased a home for herself, in the city of Paradise. That home is now gone, and all that remains is rubble and remnants of the memories she used to have. When The Butte County Campfire started my Aunt was working, taking care of a patient in their home. My mom called her, told her about the fire, and my parents and my Aunt raced to her home to collect her animals and her things. They managed to get out of the house with her three cats and two dogs, and not much more... My aunt has the clothes on her back, a few pairs of shoes and LUCKILY her animals. We are trying to raise some money in order to be able to help her buy new clothes, get into an apartment, and purchase the necessities - I.E. clothes, hygiene items, food for herself and her pets, a mattress, and basic furniture. She is an amazing woman who has lived her life for others, always putting everyone else first... I think it's time we repay her for all the love, kindness, and care she has shown everyone she has touched. We love you Aunt Rindy! <3
