Dorian Relief for the Bahama Islands
Donation protected
Friends and Family,
I’m raising funds for Dorian relief to the Bahama Islands. In addition to supplies, they also really need means to transport the supplies to the islands - boats and aircraft.
Boats must be totally self-sufficient and capable of making the run round trip. We cannot expect fuel or vessel support there or en en-route. I am blessed to have a boat capable of transporting 3500 pounds, and that is capable of making the run round trip.
I will start my runs next weekend and will make as many as possible. This page is for support to make that possible. 100% of the funds will go to buying supplies and fuel to transport the supplies. I am in contact with locals there and the organizations managing the relief efforts, so I will focus on supplies that are needed most.
I will be running to West End on Grand Bahama Island, and possibly Grand Cay and Chubb. I have coordinated directly locals and with management at the local marinas, and have the necessary legal paperwork. I am not “winging it” for those concerned. At West End supplies are being transported to local churches where they are being distributed to the Bahamian people that need it most.
There are many organizations doing great work to help many different areas. This is how I can best help, given I have the blessing of a vessel that is capable of making the run.
Once conditions allow it, I will also try to run to the Abacos, but the conditions won’t allow it at this time as I (and many center console vessels) do not have that round-trip range.
We’re happy to vacation in and enjoy the Bahamas when times are good. Now these people need our help when times are bad. Any little bit will help. Thank you!!
Ian
