Doreen Sweeney- Dodge Funeral

Doreen was a second grade teacher at Orwell Village School and had quite a few activities out of school that kept her busy most of the time. She was an avid golfer who played almost every day in the summer. On the days she wasn't golfing, she was playing softball for the Two Sheas in their Rutland league. After thirty six years of teaching she had to unfortunately retire from her dream job and focus on her health a few months ago.
Doreen has been diagnosed with various types of cancers with her first coming in 2011. After having surgery she went through a couple months of Chemotherapy and returned to work soon after. She's never been someone to let her health get the best of her and if you asked how she was doing, 110% of the time she'd say "great" or "amazing." Then a few successful and healthy years later she was tragically diagnosed with liver cancer. Again, even if you asked her how she was doing, you'd get the same positive and cheerful answers. Her recovery wasn't as smooth as the first one and soon found herself going back and forth to Dartmouth on a weekly basis. After 9 months she was put on Hospice care and reality hit us that our mom wasn't going to be here forever. Slowly she was losing her fight and was transferred to Rutland in their hospice room. She has been surrounded by friends and family for two weeks as of this writing.
Our mom is on her last days at Rutland Regional Medical Center and we are looking for donations to help with the funeral and other related costs as they are much more than anticipated. Our dad Clinton and Molly will be in charge of the expenses.
We thank each and everyone for the prayers, flowers, phone calls, and visits. They are very much appreciated.
