Doradus u16 Premier Trip to Nationals
Tax deductible
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit the u16 Doradus FC Premier Boys Soccer Team, of which our son Jonathan is a member.
This team currently plays in Division 1 of the top local league in the area – the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL) as well as the top Regional league in the Mid-Atlantic – the Elite Development Program (EDP). The team has been together for four years, starting in Division 7 of NCSL and steadily rising through the ranks to its current position through hard work, dedication and teamwork. Last season, they won Division 1 of NCSL, won their Division in EDP and won the Virginia President’s Cup, earning the right to represent the State in the Region One President’s Cup June 19-23 of this year to be held in Huntington, WV near the campus of Marshall University. UPDATE!!! They WON Regionals and now have to be in Des Moines, IA from July 7-11 to play for a National Championship!!!
That’s the good. The bad…many of the families of the players that make up the team have very limited financial resources, making the ability for the team to accept earned invitations to tournaments such as these often times very difficult.
This is where you come in... these kids have earned the right to compete at the highest levels, but the highest levels come with a cost. The Regional President’s Cup alone cost each player over $500 just to pay for hotel rooms for 5 days and food and Nationals will be even more expensive due to the increased travel costs. To even keep costs this low will require us to put four kids in a room and economize the way we feed the team. Other tournaments this team is now eligible to compete in will carry similar costs.
Most of these kids are entering the 11th grade in the fall. Most would love to go to college (for many - they would be the first in their family to do so), but they will need help. Help that soccer can provide. I am personally leveraging my experience as both a former D1 men’s soccer player and a parent of a D3 men’s and a D1 women’s soccer player to help guide the players through the recruiting process and provide academic counseling and monitoring, but at the end of the day, they must go to these tournaments to be seen. College coaches in soccer do not come to High School games. They come to Showcase Soccer events and camps. Camps are not in the budget for these players, so it is these tournaments that are vital for them to participate in.
So…I am humbly seeking people to invest in these kids’ futures by becoming a sponsor for their tournament costs. To help these kids have a chance at something better for themselves through the sport the love.
Thank you in advance for your consideration,
Doug Fiegel
