DOORMAN Short Film

Hello! I'm Katherine Lane, a rising 4th year MFA Acting student at The Juilliard School.

Before starting my final year at Juilliard, I'm shooting a short film! This project is a total labor of love—I wrote the script a few years ago and am deeply passionate about it.

"DOORMAN" follows a New York doorman who decides to blur the line between client and friend with a tenant in his building. As their friendship deepens, he struggles to balance his job and morals while confronting the true nature of their relationship.

In addition to writing, I am also directing and producing this film. This is an exciting opportunity for me to build myself up as a multifaceted artist, allowing me to graduate with a well-rounded skill set. While I love acting and plan to pursue it for the rest of my life, I also aspire to write, direct, and produce. These roles allow me to have a greater say in the subject matter and message of my projects. I want to put my original ideas out there and collaborate with other artists from the inception of a project to create something entirely new.

This short film also provides an incredible opportunity to collaborate with my peers - such as actors Dillon Daniel Mutyaba and Daniel Velez, who play the lead roles. It allows other film students, as well as recent graduates involved in the project, to apply the skills they have honed during their training in a professional setting. This experience will help us expand our portfolios and establish ourselves as the next generation of filmmakers and industry professionals here in NYC.
