Donut's Summer Roadtrip USA

14 days. 11 cities. Donut Does America!

This August I am embarking on a fabulous cross country roadtrip. There are plans to film the entire journey as well; creating an accompanying documentary to my upcoming 3rd studio album. I am beyond excited to get out on the road, let the top down and explore America.

As a Queer Black person, I naturally had some initial reservations about driving solo across the country. Thanks to conversations with loved ones and my fabulous online community (shoutout to The Sprinkles) I am confident that this will be a wonderful time.

THE PLAN: A 14 day solo roadtrip!

My goal is to revamp the car before the trip to ensure safe travels. I'd also love to give her a makeover in the style of my horror Queen idol ELVIRA. This entails a shiny black coat of paint and cheetah print interior. I have already begun sourcing materials responsibly and in the most cost effective way.

In addition to all of this I also plan on visiting the gravesites of my Father and 2 brothers. These are the most important stops on the journey. Sometimes I feel emotionally unprepared for this but I am ultimately looking forward to finally being able to pay my respects to the angels I was fortunate enough to have in my life.
