Our sweet, sweet Dante brings such light to the lives of so many people. As the resident greeter at Wildflowers Yoga studio, Dante has graced the lives of so many as a gentle, grounding, sentient being, an overall comfort and joy.

After a few weeks of odd behavior, moving even slower than normal, a few alarming situations, and just not being fully himself, we made some office visits to get a prognosis. After a week of doctor visits, we now in a place to decide the next step of Dante’s health.

Recent X-rays showed a few different things, including typical-for-his-age arthritis, for which he is now on pain meds for, and thankfully, they seems to be helping his quality of life a lot.

The bigger concern is that Dante has a growth inside his abdomen that is about the size of a small cantaloupe, and is likely a large splenic tumor. We won’t know the final diagnosis until we do an ultrasound. The ultrasound will determine the extent of this growth, if it has spread to other areas, and if he is even a candidate for surgery, given his age and the prognosis.

Dante is also slightly anemic, which is likely due to this growth, and will need to be monitored to be sure that this does not continue to increase, which can eventually affect his heart and other functions.

The anemia and possible bursting of this growing mass are the main concerns at this time.

The next steps we need to take are to get an ultrasound ($450), X-rays of his chest ($280), and ultimately if he is a candidate, surgery to remove the growth and possibly his spleen ($2000-$3800).

I have created this crowd funding on Dante’s behalf to call on community to help out Dante and me out in any way possible.

I know many of us are still recovering from recent years of massive trauma and crazy experiences in our world. Through all of this, Dante was a pillar of support (emotional and physical) for myself as well as so many others in our Yoga community.

I believe (and I hope) Dante has a few more years in this world with us, and I would love for him to be able to continue to inspire, and light up the lives of our community for years to come.
