My name is Donte Laswell, and I’m reaching out for help after surviving something incredibly traumatic. Today, I helped my sister escape her abusive boyfriend — something I knew was dangerous, but I couldn’t let her face it alone. During the move, I was violently attacked. I was assaulted as I was putting her items in the car and had several of my teeth knocked out. The assault left me with physical injuries, emotional trauma, and thousands in medical and dental expenses. I’ve since filed felony assault charges against the man who did this, and while I’m committed to seeking justice, the financial burden is more than I can carry alone.
