Dontations for Jason
PLEASE HELP:
On September 22, my mother walked into my baby brother’s room and found what could be described as every parent’s worst nightmare.
Her son and our brother, 28 years old, Jason Sullenberger was laying face down and unresponsive and barely breathing covered in his own vomit. She yelled for her husband to call 911.
Even though he was heading in the right direction with his type 1 diabetes. This is a horrible experience. Jason’s blood sugar was 25 when the ambulance arrived. There is about 4 hours that are unaccounted for. Jason was on the ventilator for 2 days. He is now able to breath on his own. He has been diagnosed with hypoxic brain damage. His brain was without oxygen for to long.
The doctors have started to supplement his nutrition to feed him. He is completely unresponsive. He does not follow any commands. He has been in the hospital for 2 weeks. The doctors are going to discharge him soon. He will have to go to an acute long term care hospital. The closest one to his home is 50 miles away. He continues to be on dialysis 3 times a week. His kidneys stopped working a year ago due to his diabetes. He started the process for a kidney and pancreas transplant about 2 months ago.
The doctors have no idea if Jason will come out of this. If he does he will continue to need 24/7 care. We have watched our mom push herself as any mother would do. She continues to spent countless hours at his bedside. As our family received more information, we realized that our nightmare wasn't even close to being over.
Jason just wanted to be a normal person. He never got to be normal. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 11. He always felt different. He was never able to play sports, and just be a kid. He had to learn how to take care of is horrible condition.
The longer Jason is the way he the less likely it is that he will ever recover completely. He has a long road even after the hospital stay. He will require lots of care and rehabilitation.
As a family we don’t know how we will possibly pay for this kind of care. We need as much help as possible. My mom does not work. Anything you can donate will help take the financial burden off of our mom.
So please, if you have it in your heart help Jason and our family please donate. This money will be used to help our mom prepare to take care of our baby brother. Thank you for your prayers and donations.
