The first Broken Pictures feature film was written by Seth Mathieu Alexander Raines Harrison, a Sophomore Film Major at Dillard University from Long Beach, California. The film is named Don't Talk, Just Listen that Broken Pictures plans to shoot as a full feature production in 2021 on Dillard's campus from March to May. We at the Broken Pictures Family would really appreciate your support throughout this journey.
Don't Talk, Just Listen is a tragic story about a young black man betrayed by his Brother, deceived by his Love, and is forced to fend for himself in a world moving so fast, he is left speechless, only able to observe it all. This film represents African American college life, sheds a different light on fraternity life, pays homage to Shakespearean and Greek tragedy and betrayal, and raises mental health awareness (specifically for young black men).
This film is important because mental health is a subject that the African American community is uncomfortable taking, especially pertaining to black men. There are many fraternities that hide behind a facade of service, but behind closed doors, they do not really live up to their core values. Also, Shakespearean and Greek tragedies were some of the first pieces of literature where the protagonist does not succeed at the end of the story. This film will raise talking points within our community that we will finally be able to address.
The funds raised will go to: Costumes, Camera and Light Gear, Food for Cast and Crew, Make-Up, Post Production and other production costs.
The goal is to have this film premiere at all HBCUs across the country, making it a red carpet event. This film will not only put me but all of the other young black film makers attached to this project. Again, your support for this film would be greatly appreciated.
ALL DONATORS WILL RECIVE A SHOUT-OUT IN THE ENDING CREDITS.
