Hello, my name is Claudia. We are a Peruvian immigrant family, and we arrived in this great nation in 2022. On February 19, during our scheduled court date at the immigration offices, we were unexpectedly detained. They separated my children and me from my husband, and my children were left without food for over eight hours. At the end of the day, my husband was taken to a detention center.

The agents who detained us claim that one of us had to take responsibility for an illegal entry through the border. However, as we repeatedly explained, we entered by requesting permission and were given humanitarian parole permits to enter the country.

My husband has no criminal record; on the contrary, he does not deserve to be in this situation. He is a provider, the main support of our household, an exemplary father, and the best life partner in the world. Since we arrived here, my husband has done nothing but work tirelessly to give our children a dignified life, always making time to raise them with love, patience, and respect.

My oldest son, Mathias, plays soccer, and there was not a single game my husband missed until his detention. My youngest son, Milan, is still a baby and can now only see his father through a screen. He desperately wants to touch him.

We have never evaded justice or broken the laws of this country. When we entered, we complied with all legal requirements and followed the proper procedures. We have valid work permits, active Social Security numbers, and identification issued by the state of California. We raise our children with strong values, and we have many dreams, dreams that include our children becoming professionals here in the United States.

We did nothing wrong. We were simply waiting for the opportunity to present our case before a court when, in the middle of that process, my husband was detained. Now I find myself trying to be both mother and father to my children, the sole provider for our household, and doing everything possible to secure my husband’s release from the detention center. This includes taking on significant legal costs so that we can continue fighting together for his freedom.

This is all very hard, but I trust in God, and with His guidance, we will make it through.

I know there are hundreds of cases like mine, but I did not want to miss the opportunity to share my family’s situation. Thank you, on behalf of my family.

Hola mi nombre es Claudia, somos una familia inmigrante peruana, vinimos en el año 2022, a esta gran nación, el pasado 19 de febrero en el departamento de migraciones nos detuvieron de manera sorpresiva, nos separaron mis niños sin alimento durante mas de 8 horas, y al final del día se llevaran a mi esposo a un centro de detención, ellos aducen que uno de los dos debía asumir la entrada ilegal por la frontera pero como les repetíamos varias veces nosotros entramos pidiendo permiso y nos dieron una hoja que indica paroled que es un permiso humanitario para ingresar a un país por frontera, mi esposo no tienen ningún tipo de récord criminal por el contrario, él no merece estar en esta

situación, mi marido es un hombre proveedor, es el sustento de mi hogar, es un padre ejemplar, y el mejor compañero de vida del mundo. Desde que llegamos aquí lo único que ha hecho mi esposo es trabajar arduamente para darle una vida digna a mis hijos, siempre dándose ese tiempo para criarlos con amor con paciencia y respeto, mi hijo mayor Mathias

entrena el deporte del futbol no hay partido que mi esposo no haya asistido para alentar a su hijo, y Milan aunque es un bebe ahora lo ve por una pantalla y se desespera por tocarlo.

Nosotros jamás hemos evadido la justicia ni las leyes de este país, cuando ingresamos,

nos pusimos a derecho, cumplimos con todos los procedimientos del caso, nosotros tenemos un permiso de trabajo vigente, y una seguridad social activa, contamos con identificaciones del estado de California, criamos a nuestros hijos con valores, tenemos sueños; sueños que nuestros hijos se hagan profesionales aquí en los EE.UU, y conseguir

un estatus legal positivo, no hacemos nada malo, solo esperamos la oportunidad de exponer nuestro caso ante el tribunal y en ese camino detuvieron a mi esposo, ahora me encuentro tratando de ser madre y padre para mis hijos, buscando el sustento de mi hogar, cubrir todas sus necesidades, y hacer hasta lo imposible para sacar a mi esposo del centro de detención asumiendo los costos legales que esto conlleva, para seguir luchando juntos, es fuerte todo esto lo sé pero confío en DIOS y de su mano de él lograremos salir.

Sé que caso como el mío hay cientos, pero no quería dejar pasar la oportunidad de exponerlo y así lograr alguna fuente de ingresos… Gracias en nombre de mi familia.
