Tee Up Support for Mike's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
Dear loved ones and supporters,
For those fortunate enough to know Mike Newcomb, you've undoubtedly witnessed that Mike's personality is as colorful as his golf attire. Whether you’ve had the privilege of teeing up with him or have been a part of his journey in any way, you've experienced not only his competitive spirit but also his infectious camaraderie and the sense of purpose that golf and his community brings to his life.
Mike is an excellent golfer, a master of renovations, and has remarkable creativity, often crafting special souvenirs to memorialize life's special moments. Mike has a profound passion for everything and everyone he loves, and has always shown an immense amount of determination to excel in all that he does.
On September 5th, Mike faced a life-altering moment when he suffered a massive stroke. Three detrimental days passed before he was found and rushed to the hospital. The precious time lost before receiving emergency care has left Mike with severe paralysis on the right side of his body, with minimal movement in his leg, no movement in his arm, and extreme limitations with his ability to speak.
Since the stroke, Mike has shown his determination and resilience in trying to reclaim his speech and movement, but realistically, Mike requires intensive rehabilitation therapies to have any hope of regaining his ability to talk and walk again.
Unfortunately, the stroke specific rehabilitation therapies Mike desperately needs are not available through the public health care system. The treatment services he is currently receiving are not ideal for his immediate or long-term care, within the barriers of under-resourced facilities, practices and funding. Creating a situation in which stroke sufferers often have limited options but to languish in long-term care facilities or nursing homes.
Our mission is clear: raise the necessary funds to support the financial burdens faced, and enable Mike to receive acute care rehabilitation from a trusted facility such as Neuro Concept, a specialized provider offering evidence-based stroke rehabilitation services delivered by a multidisciplinary team of experts.
With your support, Mike has the best chance to reach his full recovery potential in hopes of regaining his speech, his mobility, and his overall health.
Mike and his family are profoundly grateful for your generosity and compassion. Together, we can help Mike reclaim his passions and quality of life.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
