Don's Mad Gainz WILL Beat Cancer

Donnie is a 28 year old son, brother, husband and most importantly a father of 2 very handsome boys who look up to him very much. He was a very hard working man working for a garbage disposal company. He worked hard, got his CDL license and life couldn't get any better. And then one day he had an accident at work and we all got the phone call that he was in the hostpital. He could not remember anything that happened, but the CAT scans and MRI's told a different story. After finding this out he took the first step to remove/test what was found on his brain by undergoing a long extensive brain surgery.
Our worst nightmare became true. Donnie was diagnosed in 2013 with a grade 3 astrocytoma brain tumor. Like other tumors, astrocytomas are graded on a scale of 1 to 4, based on how abnormal the cells look and how fast they grow. Most astrocytomas in adults are high grade. This means the cells look abnormal and grow quickly.
Donnie stayed possitive through it all, he quickly got out of the hostpital and stared his journey of healing with his wife and kids. He faithfully stuck to his treatments, and changed his lifestyle he had a passion for lifting weights and working out regularly, and started eating healthy and doing everything to beat this cancer. #madgainz
A little more than a year after being diagnosed we got the best news we could ever receive, Donnie a father, husband, brother and a son. Went into remission and was going to be able to live a normal life! He beat this horrific thing!!! Or so we thought....
When he was 100% clear to work he filled out applications to work anywhere and everywhere that his skills could be used... Finally he had a interview! He and his wife couldn't have been more excited! The same week of his interview tho a tragic thing happened in their family and his wife had to travel to be with them while donnie was going to go up and be with the family after his interview.
The day before the interview Donnie was preparing and then after remembers nothing but tragically woke up on the floor with a bookshelf on him. He was then rushed to the ER and had some MRI'S done and as fast as the good news came, the bad struck again. There was another tumor. His wife had to take several days off of work and they had to figure out the next steps.
Just about a month ago Donnie had a another very long extensive and dangerous brain surgery once again. After hours and hours of waiting we got the news that he was out of surgery but the surgeon could not remove the whole tumor.
Donnie has since then not been home to his wife and boys. But he has been working harder than one can even imagine to get better. To get home to his boys, and his wife. Get back to his life. When donnie woke up from sugery his right side had no feeling and he couldn't gain control to move anything, the right side of his lip, his shoulder, hand, hips, knee... nothing. He also could not rember how to read, and had a hard time saying the exact words he wants to say.
After a couple days healing in Rochester, Donnie was transfered to a very nice rehab hostpital in Elmira, NY and has been learning everything he can to get his brain to move his right side. In not even one months time, (he lost 4 days because he had to transfer back to Rochester) he has been able to move his arm, hand/fist and hold his smile up, and even taught hiself to wink again ;). He has studdied and got his reading and most of his speech back!! But he still has a long road due to the fact they want to get him walking, and he wants to walk more than ever. But even more than wanting to walk he wants to be home to his family, so he's gaining #madgainz everyday so he can do just that.
Donnie is a very greatful man, a family man. He and his wife not once have I or any heard them complain or wish this wasn't their life. They are strong. Donnie is a fighter and even when in the worst of the worst situations he has a smile on his face and cracks jokes.
Him and his family are piling up in medical/normal bills. From fighting this thing not only once but 2 times. His wife travels 2 times a day to see him. And still manages to work as many hours as possible. This page is made to help get some of the weight off their chest. As Donnie continues to improve he just needs a once in a while reminder that no one fights cancer alone. We are all here for him. We will beat this. And to never give up, not for anything. Any penny will help this beautiful family to heal.
Regular updates will be made as they come. Thank you everyone for your time, possitive thoughts/prayers. They are what is helping us get through. ♡
