If you don't know the LaPlant family from Grand Rapids, MN, then you are missing out on LOVE. I have been part of growing up with this family and loving this family all my life. This is only part of their story.
They are a family of luthiers, musicians, and spread joy and love wherever they are. From the world of country and bluegrass to gospel, their hearts are playing or praying in music. Don is the 3rd child of Lloyd and Bev LaPlant. 4 boys and 1 daughter, Gail , who sadly lost her battle with breast cancer 20 years ago.
Now Don is battling stage 3, inoperable brain cancer. He works part time at an elementary school, which he loves but can not drive as he is on anti-seizure medication. Mary, his wife works for the Forest Service, and they have 2 children Emily and Jed, both attending college.
This fund is to help with medical costs which will be mounting through chemo and radiation as they are without one income. We are hoping to raise some money so the family can have a "cushion" to help pay some costs of travel for chemo, bills to come and just to give them peace of mind. They are humbled by all the generosity of the people and attention, and this feels mighty foreign and a little uncomfortable to say the least. But as told them, there are many churches. The one you go to on Sunday, and the one that is all the people who feel the need to help in some way and don't see you on Sunday. If you can help, we would be grateful.
