Donnie Lee was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on July 30, 2013. Hodgkin’s is a cancer of the lymphatic and immune systems. After a grueling 7 month chemotherapy treatment program, he was declared cancer free.
Several months later, Donnie’s symptoms started to return. His oncologist has determined that he is a good candidate for a stem cell transplant (a.k.a. bone marrow transplant).
This procedure will require Donnie’s stem cells to be harvested from his blood, then a regimen of high-dose chemotherapy daily for several days. The chemotherapy will destroy the cancer and his immune system. Finally, the stem cells harvested earlier will be reintroduced to his body. This will hopefully begin the process of regenerating a new immune system, cancer free.
Donnie will be staying at Emory Hospital and in the Atlanta area for over a month. He will be unable to work during his treatments and recovery, and he will have no income. Prayers and support are very much appreciated. It will go a long way to ensuring his full recovery.
