On September 6, 2023, Donnie had a drastic change in his health. West Nile Virus was discovered during a hospitalization in October 2023. Currently, he continues to undergo diagnostic procedures, medical treatments, and speech/cognitive/physical therapy. We are beyond grateful for each day, and the road to recovery is an ongoing process. Donnie has been unable to work since the beginning of this journey however, and he was not eligible for short or long term disability benefits through his employer (he had just started a new job in July 2023). Needless to say, there is a steady stream of medical bills and expenses pouring in, even with medical insurance, and a limited amount of resources to cover them as a single income family.
