Donnie Newman’s end of life expenses

Hello all! About a month ago, my ex-husband was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that had metastasized basically throughout his body and into his bones with the primary location being his brain. He was independent and living alone prior to the hospital visit that triggered the diagnosis. When he was discharged from the hospital, he was unable to go home and moved in with our youngest living daughter. In the last few weeks, he has discontinued any treatment and began hospice services. Without mincing words, he is dying And quickly. The picture attached to this is from 7/29. He is 40 pounds lighter than he was when he was diagnosed.

My daughter has been unable to work since he moved in because he has needed full time care and couldn’t be left alone. Our oldest son was thrown into a POA position he was unprepared for and is now dealing with nothing but overdue bills from prior to the illness, hospital bills from when it started and current expenses with no income to cover any of it. He’s dealing with people trying to take advantage of the situation, keeping property that isn’t theirs and being basic human predators. Donnie has no life insurance and has made no advance arrangements for his funeral or burial. He has some pretty specific last requests, but nothing crazy….he would like to be buried near his youngest daughter that died in 2016. And although we consider these basic request, with no money, they are almost unachievable and a cremation may be forced. This wouldn’t normally be a big deal, but it is to our children because Donnie has a negative spiritual belief about cremation and they feel like they would be letting him down. Anything anyone can spare to help ease things a little bit for my kids while they are dealing with a situation that would be hard enough without all the extra hardships that have come with it would be appreciated. If you can’t help monetarily, reaching out just to make sure they’re ok or taking over a easy meal would be huge as well. Your moral and spiritual support is just as important, if not more so, than the financial assistance.
