Donna's Recovery

On June 2, 2016, Donna Burckart, from Clarence Center, NY was hit head-on while traveling in between clients for the Visiting Nurses Administration. The Millgrove Volunteer Fire Department, for which we are very grateful, used the “jaws of life” to get Donna extracted from her car and then Mercy flight took her to ECMC, our local trauma center. Her injuries included Atlanto-occipital dislocation (internal decapitation), both ankles and wrist broken, crushed hip joint, fractured ribs, and broken collar bone.
Donna is full of life and would do anything for her family and friends, now we want to return the love she had given us. She lost her husband when her kids were very young. She raised two children (now adults) on her own. For many years Donna worked very hard to pay bills so she could keep her house and provide for her children. She has been a hard worker all of her life! Just last year, she decided to change careers and became a home health care aide with the VNA (Visiting Nurses Association). The tables have now turned. Instead of her caring for others, others are caring for her.
Donna's benefit will be held on Saturday, October 1st, 2016 at St. Andrews Country Day School located at 1545 Sheridan Dr, Buffalo, NY 14217 from 2pm till 8 pm.
