Hi all, my name is Kevin Boan and I am born and bred in Murwillumbah where I live with my wife Donna and 2 children Courteney and Amy, my wife Donna has a blood disease myelofibrosis which is a serious bone marrow disorder that disrupts your body's normal production of blood cells. The result is extensive scarring in your bone marrow, leading to severe anemia, weakness, fatigue and often an enlarged spleen, it is a form of cancer!
Donna has gone downhill the past few years and recently needed a bone marrow transplant, however there was no match found in family or the register, so after no matches were found, we used her sister Sonia as the donor as that was Donna’s last chance.
Myself and Courteney and Amy have been staying in Brisbane while Donna has had the treatments in Brisbane hospital for about 7 months or more. Donna has had complications since the transplant and now has GVHD which is graft versus host disease and is a complication from the transplant, and she is on a trial drug from America! We are hopeful this will work.
Having our rent to pay in Murwillumbah and living in Brisbane without me working while we live day to day with Donna’s condition We have now used all our savings and now all my super annuation.
I am not one to ask for help but have no other option as now we are in need of some financial help for food for all of us including the 2 children, also in need for petrol, but to also help with the cost of Donna’s medications!
Any amount little, big, tiny is going to help! Even the amount of 1 cup of takeaway coffee, and please share around on your pages....
