URGENT NEED FOR DONNA ROBERTS!
7 September 2018
If you’ve followed updates on Donna, then you know how much she’s endured during the past year since I first met her. She’s worked hard on her recovery, having received her one year chip in Celebrate Recovery (CR) just a few weeks ago. Sometimes with little energy herself, she has encouraged a sponsee and offered rides to CR when needed. Having found Christ’s redemption and healing herself, her heart’s desire is to become a leader in CR and bring many others to Him for healing.
Once again I come to you, heartbroken over the pain Donna continues to endure. I’ve never before known her to suggest that she might not be able to survive this C-diff infection. She’s been in the hospital more times than I can count and at work many times when she should have been in the hospital.
Donna has had to find a different job since the company she worked for is discontinuing insurance coverage this year. And just as she was starting her new job, the C-diff has returned with a vengeance.
She has tried everything she knows to stay hydrated but has had to return to the hospital so many times she’s currently unable to work. Without insurance coverage now, about all the hospital will do is hydrate her again and send her home.
As much as Donna hates to ask for help, she has no choice right now. If she is going to survive this C-diff infection, the doctors are telling her there are only two more treatments available to her.
One treatment is a super strong antibiotic called Dificid that has a 95% success rate. Her other option is a second fecal transplant, this time with a very specific matching of her flora. Both treatments cost more than she can pay. The cheapest price she can find online for the Dificid is $3188.
I appeal to everyone who reads this to pray for Donna! She covets your prayers more than anything because she knows her healing is in God’s hands.
If you are able to donate, please give as much as possible. Even if you can give only $10 or $20, she will be that much closer to a life-saving treatment.
Thank you so much for any help you can give!

[Original plea:
In working with Donna Roberts in our church's recovery program, I've seen her struggling with her desire to drink and begging God to take away that desire. Then, I've listened to her praise Him for answering that prayer. And finally, I've watched her as she has stayed sober through the long haul, all the while encouraging others in their journey toward recovery!
It is heartbreaking now to watch her struggling with this terrible bacterial infection and what it's doing to her both physically and financially. However, her faith never wavers, and she continues to trust that God will use even this to make her stronger and better able to help others.
I'm asking you to please help her financially. Her rent is due in a few days, and she's still in the hospital and doesn't know when she can get back to work. She has already run out of paid time off so the situation is getting critical. I'm confident that when she gets on her feet again, she will give back to others who need her help because she is so grateful to God that even during this struggle she has not had the desire to drink again. For that, she constantly praises Him!
Thank you for considering this urgent need!
Please read below some of Donna's concerns in her own words:
Let me just start off saying this is very hard for me which is probably what most people say. I’m a recovering alcoholic who has been sober for almost a year now—YAY, GOD!—and have been working very hard during this year. The last two months of my life, however, have been turned upside down by the bacteria CDIff which I contracted after an upper GI procedure to stop a bleeding ulcer. I’m not even going to ask help for all the medical bills. I just need help to pay my rent, car note and get some food until I can get back to work and on my feet. God bless and thank you.]
