Remembering Donna Ann Helm (Tuite)
Donation protected
A fund to assist Donna’s family with expenses incurred from her unexpected passing.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Ann Helm, a woman of profound compassion, intelligence and beauty, who dedicated her life to the field of mental health and social work.
For over 35 years Donna generously offered her valuable gifts of empathy, tenderness and insight to assist countless individuals grappling with issues related to mental health.
In light of this fact, we honor her life’s work by sharing the difficult truth that on the morning of November 25th, 2022, Donna succumbed to complications related to her own lifelong battle with depression and took her life.
As painful as it is to accept this outcome, it is from the depth of her personal comprehension of the intricacies of such widespread, though stigmatized struggles that Donna was able to touch and transform so many lives.
It is our hope that all of us find some comfort in the legacy of love and healing that her life and her work have left in the wake of her very unique and intimate understanding of mental health and depression. A hope that we will not only bear with solace, but also sit in observance and celebrate the breadth and purpose of Donna’s influence and the benevolence of her heart, affirmed by her ability to shine light into other’s hardships in the very face of her own suffering. May each of us find in ourselves such heightened levels of grace.
Donna, 63, is survived by her son, Nathaniel Vigeant, of Los Angeles, her mother, Janice Tuite of New Bedford and her innumerable friends.
A gathering of loved ones who wish to celebrate her life is scheduled for Saturday January 7th in New Bedford Massachusetts.
All contributions are deeply appreciated and will be used toward her final arrangements and transition costs to aid her son and family in this very difficult time.
