Donna and Bill Vallis
I am creating this Go Fund Me for my sister Donna (MacKinnon) and her husband Bill. They presently live in Brook Village; Donna grew up in Deepdale(Inverness) and Bill in Newfoundland. Both Donna and Bill are going through a difficult time due to health issues.
In the spring of 2023, Bill had a stroke and spent several months in both Sydney and Inverness hospitals. When released from the hospital, Donna became his main caregiver. Bill then developed an infection in his legs in December 2023, due to diabetic complications it resulted sadly with both legs being amputated below the knees. Once Bill was released from the hospital, his care at home became more intense and home care assistance was necessary to help Donna.
This December 2024, Donna developed pneumonia that led to breathing complications. Donna was sent by ambulance to the QE 2 Hosptial in Halifax. There she also found out she had three blockages in her heart valves and emergency surgery was needed. She had her surgury on Dec 31 and she had to remain in the hospital until January 25. When Donna was released she could not live alone or have Bill return home. She needs now to recuperate at my home in Port Hood.
Bill was given an emergency, temporary, residency placement at the nursing home in Port Hawkesbury, while Donna was having her surgury .
He will continue to reside there which is another cost, until Donna is able to continue to be his main caregiver again.
These health issues which also include both of them being diabetic, have made it not possible for either Donna or Bill to work.
Due to all these medical issues it has made their financial situation stressful. If you would like to give a donation to help Donna and Bill through this difficult time, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
