Help Donna After a Surgery Gone Wrong

Hi, my name is Brianna and Donna is my mother. My mother had a bariatric surgery on July 19. She has been in the hospital since. It was done to correct severe acid reflux, and in hopes of my mother bettering her life and health so she’d be able to do more with her grandchildren. However, It was something that nearly ended her life.

On July 23 she began to crash and had to be intubated. She had gone into severe septic shock and was not expected to make It. She had a temperature of 107 degrees and was maxed out on 4 different blood pressure medications to keep her blood pressure up, however her vitals were not remaining stable. They prepared us for her death.

She has managed to survive, however, has suffered many things since. She was vented for a long period of time, and following that still had a trach for quite some time. She went into sepsis a second time. She still has a feeding tube and has been unable to eat as the few times she has she ended up aspirating. These are just some of the examples, and unfortunately does not begin to touch the plethora of things she has faced. The biggest issue is that due to the blood pressure medications and what I feel is lack of proper care, she had severe ischemia and gangrene in her hands and feet. This has since resulted in the loss of all fingers on her right hand and the amputation of her left and right leg below the knee. She still has her hand on her left with only part of one finger. The amount of surgeries she has had in the last month is imaginable.

My family and I are making this go fund me in the hopes of my mother being able to receive the best care, and the best medical equipment necessary in order to give my mother a quality of life and a new normal. She will need a lot of care and prosthetics following these surgeries.

For the sake of my mother who was a completely independent woman prior to this surgery and what has followed, please help her find a new normal. And for the sake of her grandchildren.

We almost lost her. But she has survived and It has to be for a reason! All the odds were against her. But It wasn’t without casualties.
