Donell's Dream Team - Saints Game 2022
Donation protected
My name's Stormy and I've seen my friend Donell without a Saints hat on once since meeting him in 2020 - I had to get married for him to take it off while standing next to me at my wedding.
We met very quietly as he observed my friends and me doing ministry near where he lived. He was in a terrible spot having recently learned he has inoperable Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
For over a year, doctors have provided chemotherapy that has sustained Donell but not improved his condition.
Now, doctors recommend a more aggressive, debilitating radiation treatment - to reduce the amount, but knowing they'd never fully eradicate it all. Having seen family not improve or others confined to their beds in exhaustion through similar treatment, he's not sure he's up for it.
Donell has fight.
He still rides his bike miles from his home to the street where we first met.
He managed to gain weight during chemotherapy!
And he never fails to cheer for his Saints with his token New Orleans hats or watching the games at home.
Hurricane Katrina forced him to Dallas in 2005 where he's been ever since. With little to no resources and way to return to New Orleans, his home, his lone return trip has been to bury family.
We want to change that. We want him to see family, have his beignets, and attend the Rams vs. Saints game on November 20th where he can feel at home once again cheering on his favorite team!
Your support can help cover tickets, an Airbnb, food and gear for the entire trip November 18-20.
Please consider a gift to allow Donell to cheer on his team in-person, finally, once again.
