I want to share with you a former coworker and friend, Desolonde Dennis and her family’s true story. This strong woman is a single parent with three children. She lost her beloved mother during covid in 2021. She hasn’t recovered from deep sorrow yet and had to work two jobs to support her family. Things seemed calm for a while, but suddenly, on August 29th, 2021, one of the biggest Hurricane IDA hit the Louisiana. Desolonde and her family, along with many others, were affected by this destructive wind. They lived several months without power and other proper living means. She fought daily and survived. Things were getting better, but things took a bad turn in an instant. Two months ago, when she barely made payment for the increased Entergy bill, Desolonde got laid off from work. She smiled and told us she would be fine. We absolutely have faith in her but worry about how she can make ends meet. Now, when we can only hope a miracle will happen for her and change her life for the better, fate again has made life more unbearable. This past Wednesday, September 13th, she lost her younger daughter in a tragic car collision. She has not been mentally able to see her daughter at the coroner’s office. As strong as she is, she doesn’t show much emotion, but people can feel her deep pain. She is hurting, and her heart is bleeding nonstop.

It is an unfortunate and stressful situation for her now. No parents should see their child gone before them. It is a true tragedy.
