Greetings friends and family.
As many of you know, Gracie, who is my 8.5 yr old black lab has had some ‘ruff’ times medically in the last few months. She has been through several vet visits and procedures in the last few months including the removal of a mouth lesion the vet guessed was benign, but I wonder now. But he is sure that the tumor in her bladder is cancerous, and even if removed almost always recurs quickly, and he said she’s not a good candidate for surgery because if her age and weight concerns.
Sadly, despite loving her with all that I am, it is not enough to spare her a terminal diagnosis with bladder cancer. According to her vet, whom I trust completely, she has “months” left until the cancer invades her lymph nodes. Once that occurs it will rather quickly make it more and more difficult for her to urinate and defecate. It’ll be at this point the vet will kindly come here because of my mobility issues to help her quietly pass over whiIe I hold her. Tears fall even as I type that. She is my fur child, my heart dog, my sweet angel.
I’m living on Social Security Disability limited income, and even without this current horrible inflation, I’d be struggling to pay the vet bills, but with the cost of everything going up it’s getting difficult. I’ve gone without some groceries and other needs to be sure she is cared for, but the reality is it’s getting harder making my limited income cover regular monthly bills, much less making sure she is cared for, which will always take precedent. I truly hate asking for help. As many of you who know me, know I can be stubborn with a strong preference to be independent. Yet, I don’t want my pride to impact her negatively in any way. So when a friend suggested trying a Go Fund Me page, I initially resisted, but I’m realizing I need to swallow my pride and accept support if available. I’ve always wanted others to graciously accept help when I’ve been able to help them in the past, so a friend suggested I should work on being gracious even if the support is not financial but equally important in the form of time, caring and prayers. I realized how right he was.
I don’t know how much longer I’ll have my sweet girl for, the vet states it depends on how aggressive this tumor in her bladder progresses, but it’s only a matter of months. Any help would be a blessing to help with already incurred vet bills, and ultimately a little toward the final expenses for my sweet baby.
Prayers are also requested. Thank you, even a dollar or two can help, but more than that the prayers will help us both. God bless for your caring and support. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
