Donations to Palliative Care comfort fund in PUH
Donation protected
Hello, we are the Regan’s, and we would love your help in fundraising for a hospital close to our hearts.
Last December, our Mother was treated by the palliative care and ICU team in Portiuncula Hospital. Portiuncula Hospital always made sure our Mother was comfortable while making our time as stress-free as possible. We had a lovely experience within the hospital, in particular the family room, which threw us a lifeline.
The family room allowed us to take breaks, have a much-needed rest or cup of tea or simply keep a sandwich in a fridge. Most importantly, it enabled us to be close to our mother around the clock and we were blessed to be on-hand for her last time of alertness. Those 40 minutes were so precious and healing for us all, a time we will never forget - but we may have missed had we not been on-hand.
We wish to raise funds for the family room so that other families, who need a place to stay while looking after a loved one, will also have the opportunity to have the experience that we had.
All money fundraised will go to the Palliative Care team towards helping support families with the family room facilities, lunches etc.
To initiate fundraising for this, we plan on walking or running 300 kilometres for the month of May. (We will keep you posted on facebook)
Any donation big or small will make an impact.
Thank you to everyone at Portiuncula and thank you in advance to anyone making any donations.
From Rachel, Sinead and Bryan.
