Help make a wig to rebuild confidence
Donation protected
To all my friends and family
In the back of their minds, I think most women would love or have loved to donate their hair to a greater cause. While in lockdown, I grew my hair quite long, and now I’m at a point where I can donate it to help someone build back their confidence.
I started this process thinking I would contribute to an organization that made wigs for cancer patients. Not to say I still won’t go in this direction; however, while researching, I was humbled and heartbroken to watch and read stories on the many women and men who have lost their hair and for reasons that some of you may not have even considered.
While some financial help is available for cancer patients, which comes from the government and organizations, there are no government funds to help someone who has lost their hair due to a tragedy in their life. Including domestic abuse or burn victims; the list is quite intense. I also didn’t realize the time and process it takes to make just one wig and how many people are waiting to receive one. Creating one wig takes 6-20 bundles of hair and $2,000. The process can take up to 50 hrs to make just one wig. A very humbling moment for me to watch videos on the process. The attached video about the process from start to finish hit me hard.
This is where I hope you can all help. I hope to raise $2,000 alongside the 12 inches of my hair. Any donation will help,
Any amount you can contribute goes a long way to alleviate some financial burdens and will help a grandmother, a mother, a wife, or a child regain some lost confidence while struggling with her battle. Please share this link on your social platforms if you think it would help.
Many organizations accept hair, and I still struggle to find one. I’m open to suggestions on where to donate my hair if you (or someone you know) have any experience with donating their hair. I will keep everyone updated on the choice and the final amount, so we can rally together to build a wig.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share and read. Even if you are not in the position to donate, watching the video may enlighten you on all the needs for wigs and inspire you to do the same one day.
