Donations to help support Martin David's Family

On the morning of Tuesday June 9th, Martin Elliot David Sr went to work on what would be his final day with us on this earth.  Laura Jordan, his wife (common law) became extremely concerned as Martin did not return home from work the following Tuesday evening.  She would then call his mother, LaVerne David, notifying her that he did not return home and asked if they had any information on where he may be.  The following day around 1:45 PM on Wednesday afternoon, Marty David, Martin’s Father (his next of kin) received a call from the Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia requesting further information to update Martin's Medical file. At that point, Marty, unaware and uninformed about the whereabouts or condition of his son, knew that a request for information was implicit of an accident.  The nurse confirmed to Marty that Martin was at the hospital and had suffered from head trauma. Subsequently, Shaelene Himmelman (Martin's younger sister) went to the hospital at 3:42 PM, where upon arrival the nurse apologized to her, as it was her impression that the family had already been informed.  The nurse then informed Shaelene that her brother had suffered from an accident at work.  She proceeded to go up to his room to see Martin in his condition. The damage from the fall dramatically obstructed his speech and cognitive abilities.  Shaelene returned home to inform the family about Martin's condition and his location at the hospital.  However, they received another call shortly after with updated information that Martin's condition had worsened. Following her visit, his family: both his parents, eldest two children, sister, brother in law, niece, and his wife waited at the hospital for the medial staff to give an updated status on his condition.  The hospital staff at the QEII told the family that the aforementioned workplace incident led to Martin suffering from cardiac arrest that evening leading to hemorrhaging in the brain; stopping the flow of blood and halting activity entirely.  The following day, his wife and mother of his youngest children (Laura Jordan), his eldest two children (Martin David Jr and Maddux David), and their mother (Jennifer Pye), went to his room to see what state their father and husband was truly in. Immediately following the visit, the hospital staff explained fully in medical terms what happened to Martin while he was under their care, and what had led to his passing. Thursday, the family was interviewed by CTV News Atlantic.  The David family told the news report that they were informed about Martin's condition from the hospital the following day of the accident; not knowing where he was for over 30 hours.  They explained how they were utterly disgusted at the lack of human decency on behalf of a large National Corporation to completely disregard firstly, any accountability that the incident did occur at work;  and secondly, that his employer made no effort to contact his family that an incident had occurred Tuesday morning. The untimely passing of a wonderful father, grandfather, husband, brother and son has left an entire family and community wholly and thoroughly desolate without the amazing man they once loved.  Martin Sr was the father of four; Martin Jr, 22; Maddux, 14; Marcus, 2; Makahi, 1; as well as a grand-daughter about to turn 1 in July.  The agony the David family feels is an indescribable torment.  We as a family appreciate donations of any kind with the upmost gratitude.  However, of greater importance to us is restitution; to have his story shared and told as far as it reaches.  For those parties guilty of negligence to be held accountable, for justice to be served, and for him to be remembered as we do.  Martin was loving, kind, hard-working, a true family man until the end.
