It is with immense sadness and a heavy heart that I inform everyone of the passing Officer Michael Hinton.

Mike was battling cancer for the last year and a half and the cancer has spread to other areas. He went through multiple surgeries, several types of treatment, and hospital stays. Unfortunately, the cancer progressed and his health declined. Through his struggles, Mike is always positive and smiling.

Mike was a great friend, husband to his wife, Veva Alvarez, and father to his two children, Michael (4 yrs. old) and Nora (7 yrs. old). He would stop everything he is doing to help another person in need. He loved spending time with his family, working on race cars, and racing at Lebanon Valley Dragway.

Mike has been a New Haven Police Officer since 2014, part of Class 20. Prior to becoming a Police Officer, he worked for Comcast for several years.
