Hi everyone my name is Lisa , I am a 34 year old single parent with four beautiful children aged from 17 down to 9 I work for the nhs . In surgical a job I adore
unfortunately some time two years ago I was getting unwell a lot which results in multiple a&e admissions it got to the point I thought I was going crazy unwell all the time on antibiotics more than I was off them colds coughs chest infections pneumonia even surgery needed at times . And all it took was one cardiologist to look back on the history of blood tests so see my white cells were always raised for many years .
tests were undergone and i was told a year ago I had CLL which is a form of leukaemia I was told not to worry as it’s more common in elderly patients but as time went on I was really unwell and unhappy with the care I was receiving as was my gp
from re occurrence infections to hair thinning hair loss abnormal bloods swollen lymph nodes fatigue my gp agreed to refer me to the royal marsden after a private consultation .
and I’ve now been under the care of the royal marsden several months and they re done tests and I was sadly diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia called T cell LGL . Unfortunately there is no cure for this type of leukaemia it’s a slow progression but there’s not enough studies and science behind it for a cure there’s just treatment to manage symptoms.
i don’t think i will ever come to terms with the fact im always going to have cancer but the reason for this appeal of a go fund me is the past month things haven’t been great I’ve not been able to work due to chronic pain I’m now in
I have been experiencing really bad joint pains in my shoulder ankle legs and back some days I can’t even sit on the sofa for long without being in pain I’m having to wear a ankle support for going up the stairs and going out . Some days easier than others but ultimately I’m in pain daily now .
my next appointment at the royal marsden was brought forward and Iv been referred to rheumatology , as bone specialist for pain management for the joint pains
Who now I have seen and due to the cancer I’ve developed arthritis at the age of 34
and I am also now going on life long antibiotics which is 3 tablets a week all year around to prevent as many infections. I’m on pain meds but still in pain I wasn’t able to work whilst in sever amount of pain and although I’m now back at work after two months off I still will be out of work at times due to pain nausea appointments etc
I am also now on a chemo drug called methotrexate to try and help now that I’ve developed arthritis which is common with leukaemia but this makes me feel incredibly unwell .
Understandably I have been financially struggling with getting to and from all these hospital appointments some are local but mostly in Sutton now under royal marsden and st heliers . As well as day to day bills that now are mounting up!
I am hoping the community out there would help by sharing this and donating where possible to help me and my family get by ,
never thought I’d ever be writing something like this , especially at the age of 34 but sadly I am . I’ve had amazing support from friends family but no family should go through this .
I’ve attached some information below my diagnosis & info on type of cancer it is
Thank you for taking the time to read share and donate x
