Donations to Help Arlene Kinsley's Medical Bills
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Michael, and I'm fundraising for my mother Arlene.
Arlene and her husband Mike have been there for friends and family all their lives, and have never asked for anything in return, but now Arlene has found herself in a position where she is struggling to regain her health, as well as struggling to figure out how to pay for the medical bills that have been piling up due to her condition.
Arlene never thought she’d be dealing with cancer at the age of 70, but early in November of 2022, she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Things moved quickly from that day forward, and four days later a mass was located at the base of her neck. Doctors felt the need to operate as quickly as possible. Due to the location of the mass along her spine, neurosurgery was necessary to stop the cancer from going into the brain. It was also necessary for the doctors to fuse her spine after trying to eliminate the mass.
In late April of 2023, plans began for the Stem Cell Transplant. She would be her own donor, and the “Collection” process began. Stem cells from her blood would be extracted & collected, cleaned & frozen in a tedious 5-day process to be used in the actual transplant on May 11th. With a wiped-out immune system from a heavy dose of chemotherapy, Arlene underwent a successful transplant and remained in Roswell Park for 16 days to rest & recover from this major blow to her body.
Arlene admitted how weak she felt the first week after coming home, but with her husband Mike being her caregiver, and constantly by her side he helped her every step of the way to get her back on her feet again.
Grateful for the doctors and staff of Roswell, who are the best in their field, she feels the care that she received from Roswell Park Cancer Institute over the past 8 months was second to none. She is also grateful for her immediate family, all their help, the kind gestures & prayers from family & friends, as well as for being able to rest in the comfort of their home in Lancaster, NY.
Now that the procedures are behind her, and recovery is underway, Arlene finds herself with a mountain of unexpected medical debt, while living on a fixed income. While it has never been her way to ask for help, I am reaching out in the hopes that all her years spent giving to her community might come back to her now, in her moment of need. We are asking that anyone who could spare any amount please consider giving to this loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. 2023 is the year in which she expected to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary, which came and went, overshadowed by the fear of COVID, and the impact it could have on her medical procedures.
All donations will be used to pay the medical bills which have accrued from various hospitals, doctors, and the amazing staff at Roswell Park. Any donation would be greatly appreciated, and whether you can donate or not, please share this fundraiser with as many people as you can. My mother has had the fight of her life, and this fundraiser will help her be able to live that life without worrying about the bills that have accrued.
Thank you all!
