Donations to for funeral costs and urgent vet care

Hi my name is Hannah. I feel very embarrassed to be asking for help but I am in a terrible situation, I wouldn't wish on anyone. My beautiful husband, Neil, lost his battle with cancer on 23rd April 2025. Unfortunately, I am struggling to make the funeral costs by myself and I haven't even factored in the cost of his headstone yet. I am hopeful of some help towards funeral costs from the DWP because I have been on a low income throughout my husband's illness and his passing. However, I still have a shortfall of an estimated £2,600, depending on what the DWP grant me, I could end up owing more. I am trying to keep the household running and I have teenage children who rely on me both financially and emotionally but I am falling apart inside. Friends and family have been so supportive but I just haven't been able to bring myself to accept money and, until recent developments, I was determined to manage on my own. However, this has now become a situation of 2 halves. My beloved fur baby and the apple of my eye, Peaches, has had a small lump behind her nipple for a while. I thought this was some kind of calcification and I was planning to ask the vet to remove it when I could afford to get her spayed (after paying for the funeral). However, following her groom, two days ago, I realised the lump has grown considerably and spread in small lumps to lots of other places, under her skin, down her chest. The vet kindly got her seen straight away and they are tumours. Peaches is now booked for surgery on Monday to remove as much as they can and send it off for testing. I am terrified. Peaches is my shadow and my therapy dog. She sleeps next to me and gives me the comfort I so desperately need to get me through losing my husband. I cannot lose her too, I just can't. The cost for her veterinary care, x-rays and surgery are initially estimated at around £900. Now for the final blow in this situation. Peaches' mum, Paisley, is my daughter's precious fur baby and she has a smaller but very similar lump in her chest which has not yet spread. We need to repeat the same treatments for Paisley as soon as possible at the same £900 estimated cost. We are all going through so much at this time and this extra fear and trauma is unbearable.

Any tiny amount would be so gratefully received at this difficult time. I love each and every one of you who has been there to support us so far and to those of you I may not even know, who would help a complete stranger! You are a gift to humanity.

Thank you so much for reading xx

Update.. Peaches' tumours were cancerous and Paisley's too. They are both now in recovery from surgery and I still have their vet bills and my husband's funeral bill outstanding. I'm chipping away at them slowly. I wanted my husband's headstone to be on in time for his birthday but, sadly, it won't be now. I appreciate all of your help so far. You are all amazing. Thank you so much xx
