The world has lost an incredible soul, the passing of Kathy Keddy leaves a void in the lives of her children Chris (Kate), Markie (Rick), Shannon (Adam), and her longtime partner and love, Gary. All who knew Kathy were touched by her humour, her kindness, her compassion and her unending affection to her family. Those who mourn Kathy; knew her affection for her granddaughter Eloise Keddy was without limits. Kathy was known as “Grandma Coffee” to her beloved Eloise. Nicknamed Grandma Coffee because Eloise couldn’t pronounce Kathy and because, well Kathy loved her Tim’s coffees.
For Kathy, the sun rose and set with her devotion to Eloise. There was no such thing as over-the-top when it came to creating special moments and fond memories for Eloise. Kathy threw extravagant parties and celebrations for all of Eloise’s milestones. From creating Halloween costumes to the yearly Elf-on-the-Shelf ritual (complete with a wedding ceremony for the elves), bed time stories, and drawing together; these were only a few of the many ways Kathy displayed her love for her beloved granddaughter. They spent time together every day and for Kathy, Eloise was the bright spot during the long days she fought back the ravages of cancer.
Kathy was an amazing mother, partner and friend but her love shone brightest for Eloise. She sprinkled star dust in Eloise’s life every day and Kathy’s love for Eloise will go on forever. There is a well-known poem “ ..you left me beautiful memories, your love is still my guide; and though I can’t see you Grandma, your love will always be by my side”.
