I am 78 years of age now, but since my late 20’s, I have
had 15 neurosurgeries to resect  benign tumors in my brain, neck and spine due to having a genetic disease called neurofibromatosis. As if this  wasn’t enough, I have developed intense low back pain which radiates down both legs to my feet. I am on pain medicine specifically for neuropathy and CBD tincture.  I can’t stand, walk or sit for any prolonged period of time and my legs are so weak, I have to use a walker. I had an MRI which showed bulging discs at every level of my lumbar spine. My neurosurgeon, who has taken care of me for many years, is going to fuse my lumbar spine at every level, and will be operating with an orthopedic surgeon to accomplish this. But, while the orthopedic surgeon takes Medicare and my supplemental health insurance, my neurosurgeon has opted out of all health insurance, so I have to pay myself and it is very expensive.
