I am a teacher and a student I have known for 4 years needs your help. After years of battling Sickle Cell Anemia my student Tamia lost her mom and best friend Erica the day before Mother's Day, weeks short of her high school prom and graduation. Due to this terrible pandemic Tamia was even robbed of the opportunity to give her mom a final kiss and say goodbye. As an only child Tamia was her main caretaker and therefore stood alongside her mom throughout many years of hospitalizations due to her medical condition and its complications. Eventually one of those complications claimed her life. The strength and courage that it takes to care for your loved one especially at such a young age defines true greatness. However, Tamia is now left to fend for herself. Her needs are both immediate and long term. She would like her to afford a proper memorial and pay for that cap and gown and the other graduation expenses she managed to earn. Looking forward she'll need assistance as she learns to live an independent life that includes college and future endeavors. Would you please help me bring her some much needed relief and bring a smile to her face as she fulfills her final responsibilities to her mom and begins to face her future.
In this time of great tragedy, fear and trepidation. It becomes necessary to remind ourselves of the power we have to transform the lives of those less fortunate.
