Hello, my name is Tim Hoover, a father to my 17-month son and fiance to Kayla. Our story begins 5 years ago on a camping trip in Algonquin Provincial Park where Kayla and I happened to be the 2 singles and the others coupled up. After that camping trip and 5 years later; we are now engaged, proud homeowners and very proud parents to our healthy, amazing and very busy 17-month son Colton.
Kayla is a warrior in my eyes, I have seen so much come from her in the 5 years that I have been with her. From paying off all debts as soon as she could, working 2 jobs just to keep up with what we know as the cost of living and help save to get the house we literally thought we'd never get because of the market. But aside from the everyday hustle the biggest personal achievement that I have seen Kayla face is herself and her rooted traumas, overcoming and understanding how to truly be herself through the help of therapy. Many can look at it as a downfall or ashamed they must attend therapy but it was an amazing experience for her and she is grateful and proud she made that decision during those times. It was a huge help especially for the road we are facing now.
Kayla continues to be positive, kind, loving and an amazing mother, always motivated throughout our journey of home ownership, parenting and everyday life. The rockiest road that Kayla, Colton and I are now facing is the way too young (29) diagnosis of Breast Cancer. Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, the most common form of breast cancer is what Kayla was told she had but after the first consultation with her Oncologist, Kayla was then told her cancer has a protein component to it labeled HER2 Positive that is considered to be aggressive in the way of fast growing and fast spreading. Luckily we did catch it as soon as we did before it became an even bigger problem. The enevidible up hill battle Kayla is facing is that the best and most effective way of treating this aggressive cancer is with aggressive chemotherapy treatments, sugery, than radiation all spanning within the course of 64 weeks. This leaves Kayla at the mercy of how her body reacts to the cancer treatments, and counteractive medications to make this process as comfortable as possible. Also if her body can handle it while being healthy enough to even have treatments by avoiding everyday illnesses and infections.
There is never a good time for cancer but this is all taking place during Kaylas Maternity leave, which rightfully Kayla wants to be fully there for our son and not fighting for her health. There are days she is down and out or not feeling herself and of course has that motherly guilt feeling more concerned about being there and taking care of Colton then she is of herself which is always a hard thing to watch.
I am back working full time and doing the best I can with supporting my half of the household expenses and chores while trying to be present with Colton and Kayla as much as possible because time is more valuable now.
With that long story as short as I could get it I want to thank everybody friends family co-workers and anyone who has sent flowers, thoughts and prayers, money, frozen home made dinners all of it is SO much appreciated during these times.
I am starting this "go fund me" because there will be unexpected costs with what we must go through to fight and beat cancer, this can and will include, parking passes to hospitals and medical buildings, extra costs to prescriptions or procedures that our medical benefits may not cover at all or cover a portion of, any time taking off from work that my absence may not cover our fix expenses and of course the traveling to and from appointments.
**The donations will be directly funded to this account for the use of if and when we need them. Kayla and I also want to do our part in giving back so as stated the donations will be used for us on an if and when we need them and the other half of the proceeds Kayla and I will be splitting up to donate into the
Breast Cancer Canada:
For the last three decades, you’ve known us as the Breast Cancer Society of Canada. But with a disease that is ever evolving, we have also evolved.
We remain the only organization in Canada laser focused on breast cancer research because we believe in building on the outstanding progress that’s been made. We see the power in what we do, and will continue to work to highlight the unwavering passion of precision oncology and personalized medicine.
Canadian Cancer Society:
Canada is our home country and this wedsite allows me to pick specific gifts that I can donate too which I really like, whether that be for support, wigs, transportation, camp supplies for kids going through cancer and the list goes on.
