Hi, my name is Margaret and I am fundraising for my daughter, Shannon Tevis, who is battling an aggressive form of breast cancer. My daughter is 42 years old and is a wife and mother of three children. She is also the primary caregiver for her 11 year old son, who disabled and needs a lot of support.

After my daughter's recent doctor’s appointment and a battery of tests, she has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Her type of breast cancer is Gata3 negative, which indicates that the cancer did not originate in her breasts and started somewhere else in her body. In order to pinpoint where the cancer is, she needs a PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scan done, but unfortunately her insurance has denied the claim twice, even though her own doctor says this is what is needed to help diagnose and find out where the cancer originated from and what areas of her body it has spread to. Without this scan, the doctors cannot adequately treat her cancer. This is disheartening! Her cancer is highly aggressive. They state that time is of the essence and that she has a major fight on her hands, but she is willing to fight as hard as she can so she can be there for her family.

As of now, my daughter had to quit her job to focus on her health and treating this aggressive cancer. She is going to move forward with a double mastectomy but that will not eradicate the cancer unless they find out where it came from. A PET scan is the only way that she has a fighting chance at surviving this type of cancer.

The PET scan costs $6,000 and my family just cannot afford that. This medical treatment is urgent and she needs this scan now so that she can further her treatment and hopefully be able to recover from this cancer. We will pay for as much as we can but my family and I are asking for help from anyone willing to donate to help pay for this crucial scan for my daughter.
