On October 17th I took my 12 year old son to the emergency room after his school nurse called and said he was vomiting at school.

After his blood work came back they informed me there were signs of kidney failure and we needed to be rushed to Children’s Hospital.

Once in the PICU at Children’s they ran more labs and informed me my 12 year old baby has End Stage Renal Failure . His kidneys are working at only 7 percent. He also needed several blood transfusions.

After a little over a week in the PICU and two surgeries he was discharged home to start HD dialysis outpatient. After being discharged for a short few hours we went to his first outpatient dialysis and he had a horrible allergic reaction to the filter used and was rushed back into the PICU. Ronnie is allergic to a chemical used to sterilize the dialysis filter.

11/5/23 I was informed that due to his allergic reaction to the dialysis filter it caused some concerns with his heart that now require further observation and maybe treatment.

Not only do I have a son in the hospital but I’m also a single mother to three other kids so balancing everything while not working is hard to say the least. Everyday has been a struggle to mentally hold it all together.

Today Ronnie remains at Children’s Hospital.
