Hello, first I want to say thank you for opening this GoFundMe page.

On Thursday Aug. 13th my dad and my 14 y/o brother were at a red light when they were rear ended by a drunk driver. The driver tried fleeing the scene but thankfully bystanders kept him from leaving. My dad and brother were taken in an ambulance to UNMC. My brother was very sore and his legs were swollen but he’s doing better at the moment. But this GoFundMe is being made for my dad who is the hardest working person in my life and I know he is struggling not being able to do much. My dad needs spine surgery due to the accident. His spine has tightened up and is now squeezing his nerves which is causing him to not be able to feel his arms/hands. He is in a neck brace that we can’t take off and is now resting awaiting his surgery for Thursday Aug. 20th. This means that my dad can’t go to work and will be out for sometime. He will need to rest after his surgery and possibly start physical therapy. My mom also has been taking time off work to take care of him. We also want to pursue legal action because we fear the drivers insurance will not want to pay for the damage their client has caused. I know that these are hard times with the COVID-19 pandemic but we will be extremely grateful with anything anyone can help us with. I’ve always donated to GoFundMes with the mindset of “today for you, tomorrow for me” in hopes that if one day my family and I needed help someone would do the same for us. El jueves 13 de agosto, mi papá y mi hermano de 14 años estaban en un semáforo en rojo cuando un conductor ebrio los chocó por detrás. El conductor intentó huir de la escena, pero afortunadamente algunas personas presentes le impidieron irse. Mi papá y mi hermano fueron llevados en ambulancia a UNMC. Mi hermano estaba muy adolorido y sus piernas estaban hinchadas, pero en este momento está mejor. Pero este GoFundMe se está haciendo para mi papá, que es la persona más trabajadora de mi vida y sé que está desesperado por no poder hacer mucho. Mi papá necesita una cirugía de columna debido al accidente. Su columna vertebral se ha tensado y ahora le aprieta los nervios, lo que hace que no pueda sentir sus brazos/manos. Lleva un collarín que no podemos quitarle y ahora está descansando esperando su cirugía para el jueves 20 de agosto. Esto significa que mi papá no puede ir a trabajar y estará fuera por algún tiempo. Necesitará descansar después de la cirugía y posiblemente comenzar la fisioterapia. Mi mamá también se ha ausentado del trabajo para cuidarlo. También queremos emprender acciones legales porque tememos que el seguro del conductor no quiera pagar el daño que su cliente ha causado. Sé que estos son tiempos difíciles con la pandemia de COVID-19, pero estaremos extremadamente agradecidos con cualquier donación que puedan darnos. Siempre he donado a GoFundMes con la mentalidad de "hoy por ti, mañana para mí" con la esperanza de que si algún día mi familia y yo necesitábamos ayuda, alguien haría lo mismo por nosotros.
